Blank Media Collective is programming an exhibition, supporting symposium, publication and events programme called ‘equals’. ‘equals’ aims to open up and critique the conversations surrounding contemporary British feminism and gender equality to anyone and everyone. The goal is to provide a platform for artists, writers, musicians and thinkers to develop and express their thoughts and concerns on the themes of feminism and its wider social implications.

This is very much an evolving conversation and Blank Media Collective encourages you to develop your thoughts and ideas by responding to these themes.

All genders are encouraged to submit and take part in any medium. Blank Media Collective is currently seeking submissions for the publication and the event. For the publication we are looking for poetry, creative prose, essays, illustrations and two-dimensional art work. For the live event, we are seeking live literature, poetry, music, performance, video and sound art. The live event will take place on Saturday 13th July so please ensure that you will be available on this date before you submit work.

Please submit an idea of what you would like to produce or up to three finished pieces for consideration. Proposals should be accompanied by a current CV, biography and a sample of 3 or more recent works. Please also include relevant web links.

Last year’s exhibit featured work by over 400 artists from as far afield as Australia and Guyana. This year we hope you will join us in our mission to provide leadership and community to women in the arts by exhibiting your work in Wish You Were Here 12. Artists of all mediums including writers and musicians are encouraged to donate.

**All the proceeds of this exhibition help fund our programs, including our Fellowship Program for under-represented and emerging women artists.

PLEASE NOTE: We will only be exhibiting single postcards & we will ONLY except 1 from each artist.

- If your artwork is NOT made of cardstock or a similar thin material, please wire the back so that we can hang it on the wall on a nail or hook.

Open Call // Community Art in Hoorn NL

HMK {Hotel MariaKapel} offers one or more artists the opportunity to realise a large-scale community art project in Hoorn, the Netherlands in 2014.

The commission
HMK is looking for a newly developed community art project which
 Is a project by a visual artist
 Takes place in (semi-)public space
 In development and execution is (partially) dependent on the participation of a local audience/public.
 Benefits from a local (social) infrastructure for the realisation of the project

Goals
The project engages residents from Hoorn during the process of creation. The group of participants does not necessarily have to be large, as long as the project reaches a large audience. The target group is not decided upon beforehand, but depends on the nature of your project. The concept of the project will be developed in 2013 and will be created in 2014 in a neighbourhood of Hoorn, NL, preferably not the centre.

HMK offers
For the development of the concept and its’ creation HMK offers a budget, including a fee for the artist(s).
HMK is responsible for PR, communication and publicity. During the project we offer full use of all facilities, including the guesthouse.

How to apply
Project proposals consists of a brief (1/2 A4 – 1 A4) explanation of your project, documentation and a CV, if possible all combined in a single PDF document, and can be sent to call@hotelmariakapel.nl (att. Selection criteria
Main criteria for selection are artistic quality, relevance of the topic/concept, the level of involvement of a local audience and participants. Furthermore professionalism, an independent way of working, and the skills to generate collaborations and contacts are of importance.
