Elisa Gabor, an artist member at FJORD Gallery in Philadelphia, and Curator for the exhibition Labor With Love,  asked me to make their Call for Entry visible to artists. Here is the information:

On behalf of FJORD Gallery, artist curator Elisa Gabor is calling for artworks to be submitted to To Labor With Love: a collection of objects, images, and gestures about art and process. This exhibition will be on display at FJORD Gallery throughout the month of May. We are thrilled to also be exhibiting and hosting screenings of Artists at Work: a film by Finnish artist Elina Brotherus.

While Brotherus’ film addresses themes of work, subjectivity, and observation, we seek to compose a local conversation that engages creative courage, the value and futility of artistic skill sets, and art as evidence of unique interpretations of labor.

We are looking for artworks that may unintentionally relocate the maker as the subject, that narrate (fictionally or non-fictionally) the process of making something from love (or in the pursuit of love). We hope to assemble a grouping of artworks that rigorously push the limits of their medium either by exposing material failures or inventing new tools and applications.
How to Apply:

Email images and image list (see guidelines below) to fjord.curator@gmail.comwith “To Labor With Love” in the subject line.

You will receive an email confirming your payment and submission.

Submission Criteria:

Submission Fee: $15.00 for two submissions, $5.00 for each additional submission. Maximum of 5 submissions. You may include one detail image (no fee) per three-dimensional submission as needed. Any medium is welcome (photography, video, sculpture, installation, books, web, etc.).

Please submit image list and images to fjord.curator@gmail.com with “To Labor With Love” in the subject line. An artist statement is not required but may help us to better understand your work.

Image List:
Artist information: Name and Contact info
Artwork information: File name, title, date, media, dimensions, presentation requirements (for example, needs pedestal, outlet, headphones, monitor, performance, etc.)

Images:
*Files formatted incorrectly will not be reviewed

1000 pixels longest dimension
Files should be named accordingly: Lastname_Firstname_ImageNumber (for example, Knowles_Beyonce_01)

Video pieces should be submitted via a link to an online player on the image list as well as in the email.

Calendar (tentative):
Applicants will be notified by April 6.
Artwork must be received or dropped off at FJORD Gallery by 7pm on April 26(artists are responsible for shipping to and from).
Opening reception will be held on May 2 from 6-9pm.  Artwork pick-up is May 31 by 5pm.
