Lambda Art Printers and Web Offset Printing Video Tours

American digital artist William Montgomery creates his artworks using an iPad, then prints each to large sizes on paper in limited editions mounted to museum grade plexiglass. He works with printers in the US who own and operate large format Lambda printers, such as the one featured in this video:

For other projects, differences of printer choices between web offset printing and sheet fed capabilities effect speed, quality and price. Exposition Printing has facilities in the USA, Argentina, Asia, Mexico, and Europe–Los Angeles, CA; Tijuana, Mexico; Brussels, Belgium; Milan and Rome, Italy; Singapore; Hong Kong; Barcelona, Spain; Lyon, France; Tokyo, Japan; and Seoul, Korea. They specialize in brochures, magazine and catalog printing.

Advice from Exposition Printing:
You’ll find that if you’re producing more than 50,000 copies of a 160 page letter size or brochure, web offset printing will cost less than sheet fed printing. That’s simply because a web press is about 4 times faster than a sheet fed press. It’s also going to be much more expensive than a traditional sheet fed style printing press but the time savings passes on cost savings to you.

Web offset printing requires presses that cost about $400,000 to $2,000,000. Sheet fed offset printing presses in comparison can cost as little as $3,000 to $200,000.

The world’s premier web offset printing press manufacturers are Heidelberg, ManRoland, KBA UK, Toshiba and others. They produce 50,000 impressions per hour on average.
