As part of promoting the fledgling Artists Portraiture Service, we set up a new Twitter account, just a few days ago, with the shorter version of the project name–@PortraitsAfrica and the response has been wonderful, with nearly 100 followers the first week! Having a dedicated twitter account for a project or a group of artists is a great way to connect and share your news. It keeps the project alive to continually try new ways to connect and promote your art project in your tweets.
For the African Portraiture Service aka @PortraitsAfrica, all the artists participating in the project have two things in common–one, they offer portrait commissions, and two, they all live in a country in Africa. The project service assists with the international commissions of portraits. Recently African artist Anton Killion completed a commission for a client via the African Portraiture Service. Working from the selfie provided by the client–Anton completed a large oil painting that he then shipped to the client living outside of Africa.
Here are thumbnail images of the selfie and the commissioned portrait painting:
Although we now primarily Tweet about the African Portraits from the new @PortraitsAfrica Twitter account, we also continue to Tweet artist news for the African Portraiture Service from our own Twitter accounts @TransArtGuide which now has 11,000 followers, and @Artozon, which now has 10,800 follower, and @Transmedartist with 9,284 followers :
Some other Twitter accounts that we manage for artists were set up to promote their available art on Amazon.
