Peel back the layers in the images and titles of Nadine Robbins oil paintings to find multiple meanings (double entendre) of subtle erotic humor–a theme that she carries thought out her work.
Nadine grew up in France, (with a mother who was an artist) and attended an impressive array of fine art schools. Nadine’s work has twice been featured in the prestigious Royal Society of Portrait Painters show in London.
Her portrait The Golden Gown, while on display at the Brill Gallery, was hailed by art critic Keith Shaw as “the best nude oil painting I’ve seen in the Berkshires outside The Clark [Sterling and Francine Clark Art Institute]. Critic Shaw went on to say that, ”Nadine Robbins is developing into a superb figure painter, and her double portrait, The Golden Gown, is an American masterpiece, both technically and artistically.”
Nadine’s reach also extends to Chicago, where renowned collector Howard Tullman has added her portrait “Moxie” to his impressive array of nudes.
Nadine Robbin’s work will hang in the exhibition Fixation 2014, curated by Sergio Gomez & Didi Menendez, a show in a Chicago gallery that will focus on physical or psychological obsessions with objects or subjects.
Besides her clever and skillful renderings of the human face and form, Nadine has a passion for oysters. Four of her still life paintings of oysters are featured in our sidebar gallery. Click on any image to go the artist’s website. Or click this link: http://nadinerobbinsart.com

Now You See It Now You Don’t, the 8th Terrace annual, is a one day only event, curated by Karl Bielik, it’s as whacky as they come, and amazing. On a warm sunny afternoon/evening in late August, 4-17 Frederick Terrace, London, becomes this delightful space for looking at art, socialising and listening to music.
Over the last six years 162 different artists have shown over 300 pieces of work in this now transformed, former wasteland. Exposed to the elements the works have shifted, faded, broken, rotted, remained and in some cases, disappeared. This year 64 artists have added new work.
In Lisa Denyer‘s painting, I feel sure that the watery stains, complementing harder straight lines, were in the finished piece before it was exposed to the elements. However, the possibility that they could be the result of weathering seems so right.
Similarly, in a 12″ x 12″ painting…

Jason Fischer, Owner and Creative Director of Surreal Media Lab, will be Producing ”Creatives Going World.” A new reality show about people aspiring to grow their emerging brands in accessories, decor and more. Beginning in October, the film crew will travel all the way to Amsterdam to begin filming the first round draft picks for the show.
Creative Director, Kiera of Phresh Phactory, Inc. says this won’t be a show filled with chaos and drama but, will instead focus on the passions and stories of each artist. Among life’s daily challenges of family, finance, and business, the show will also capture them meeting and working alongside our management team to get their products placed, seen and sold.
“People love to watch artists at work and want to know how to be successful in their own endeavours,” says Kiera. “What audiences want, is to see a story like their own, about talent, hard work and finally getting their chance to triumph at what they do best.”
All and all, this new show is bursting from the seams with excitement from both the artists and their fans, whom have grown to love their work and want to see them overcoming their biggest challenges. Be on the look out for more of “Creatives Going World.”

Arc Gallery in San Francisco is seeking submissions of works of art from artists that address the concept of “structure” in all its forms.
GALLERY & ON-LINE GALLERY
There are two opportunities to get into this show. The juror will select works that will be exhibited in the Arc Gallery at 1246 Folsom Street and on the Arc On-line Gallery. The juror will also select works that will be shown in the Arc On-line gallery only. This allows for more works to be seen beyond the 1,000 square feet physical limitation of the gallery.

View images of J.R. Smith’s paintings above and below and in our sidebar gallery and you will notice that the painter creates a balance in each work that makes it all look so easy. Yet notice again how skillfully the artist incorporates a wide variety of subject matter into each composition in a balancing act that may include animal life, landscapes and plant life, human subjects, architectural features, and still life objects, as well as text and abstract elements.
J.R. Smith has completed numerous commissions on both interior walls and exterior walls of buildings in several Texas and New Mexico towns. National and international art collectors purchase watercolor paintings and painted canvases and panels from the versatile and prolific artist.
