Are you on the ArtStack?

blogArtStack

ArtStack is the social media platform for art, where everyone can share and engage with art they love. ArtStack makes it easy to share art you make and remember art you love. Artists, curators and gallerists use it to reach new audiences, keep fans engaged, and discover new works through their friends and the people they follow.

The community includes some of today’s most interesting artists, curators, collectors, journalists and art enthusiasts globally – it’s still in invitation-beta, but you can sign up by clicking here: http://theartstack.com/users/signup/mariekazalia

Adding your work on ArtStack and sharing art you love on your ArtStack profile means that people can easily find your work through their friends and other people who like your work – rather than having to search for your website, which often means that people already need to know your work.

ArtStack enables anyone to engage with the world’s most exciting art and discover work by leading emerging and established artists and works. The site applies the concept of social following to art, so all the works by an artist are all on a single page, you see when a new work by an artist you like is added, and your audience can promote your work to their friends and followers. It simple to make your own online collections and see your work alongside that of artists you admire – and you can also use it to gauge how your works resonate with your audience.

Using ArtStack is simple: people browse and add images to their ‘Stack’ of art to create their own personal art profile; you can follow anyone on the platform to see the art they like and discover new works. To get the most out of the site, add your own works and also stack art by artists you like. Invite friends (they’ll follow you when they sign up) and ask them to stack your works, so that their friends will see your work. Like any social media, space out your activity, so add a few artworks or stack regularly every few days to be present.

You can sign up on the website here: http://theartstack.com/users/signup/mariekazalia

There are also free iPhone and Android apps – you can download them and start stacking directly!

Look Outside the Box of Art Sales Venues

If you make art images for clothing and accessories, create jewelry or prints that could be considered fashionable home decor, you may want to take a look outside the usual art sales venues–  here are a few of the newest sites to consider:

ThreadFlip  sells handmade and previously owned and new one of a kind bags, indie dresses, vintage jewelry, hats, accessories, embellished jeans, and more.

Copious  sells designer clothing, accessories and one enterprising artist offers her art prints (and has had sales) on the site too.

99 Dresses and Fashion Lend  which offers items from Europe & US sellers re two other sites for pre-owned and handmade items.

Poshmark is a new  iPhone app for shopping clothing and accessories. Perhaps you have art prints or art products to list.

I forget to ask artists for testimonials. So, I am always pleased when an artist spontaneously decides to send one. Yesterday, I received this unsolicited testimonial–just sharing an excerpt here:

hi marie…i read your e-book and thus far it has helped me tremendously. (just recently got my work in an online magazine after YEARS of no publicity) I believe the issue will be released to the public and when it does, i’ll be sure to alert you. Thanks so much!  now, I’m hoping to connect with curators in my area and ask that you “introduce” me to (name omitted) etc…  artist, candace pryor
