CHROMA: Artist CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS for Summer Exhibition

Screenshot 2016-06-06 at 3.04.52 PM
The people at The Crypt Gallery, London sent us this Call to Artists and asked us to share it with our readers.

CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS for CHROMA: Summer Exhibition

CHROMA is a curation of visual thought and exists both as space and document. It acts as a platform for elaboration and articulation, exploring the narrative potential of aesthetic and visual arrangement. The published and exhibited results are amalgamations of open submissions.

CHROMA produces experiments in chromatic language

monoCHROMA: Black & White Issue

CHROMA opens the call for the submission of art work in any medium in response to the words black & white.

Exhibition

A group show will be held in July presenting a selection of submissions curated by CHROMA. A collection of works made in isolation from one another with a colour being the only given commonality, the show will explore the conversations the works can and are forced to have through their curation and what elements of association are generated to form a narrative or dialogue. The show will experiment with the possibilities of language as a response to something inherently visual, and the relationship between this collective chromatic discourse and each individual work.

Publication

Submissions will also be considered for the creation of CHROMA’s Black & White Issue publication. This will present the same conceptual exploration as the exhibition but will take a concrete ob-ject-form, culminating individual works into a single art object.

Submission deadline: Monday 20th June at 12pm

Email a maximum of three photographs of each piece submitted, or a detailed (1 side of A4) proposal if the work is not yet made. Please include any titles, dimensions and materials.

If selected, works must be dropped off at the gallery location (The Crypt Gallery, St Pancras) at 10am on Tuesday 26th July. Instructions should be provided and the work will be hung by the team. Arrangements can be made for artists to help hang should they have specific technical requirements. Please note artists submitting video work will need to provide equipment such as projectors and/or tvs/extension cables.

Artists should also be available to collect work from the space Monday 1st August at 11am.

CHROMA will never charge submission fees however to cover the cost of the space artists selected will be required to pay an exhibiting fee from the following sliding scale:

SMALL: An exhibiting space of approximately 50cm x 50cm – £20

MEDIUM: Approximately between 50cm x 50cm – 150cm x 150cm – £35

LARGE: Approximately over 150cm x 150cm – £50

If you wish to submit multiple pieces of work, please clearly state this in your submission. If we se-lect more than one piece of work, we will take the total collective size into account for pricing (i.e. a submission of three small pieces would be costed at the price of a ‘Large’ work – £50, rather than 3 x ‘Small’ – £60). If you are submitting multiple works but only wish to exhibit one piece, please state this clearly and we will select a singular piece, charging you the price according to its individual size.

Exhibition Information:

Private View: Thursday 28th July 6-9pm

Friday 29th – Sunday 31st July 12-7pm

The Crypt Gallery, Euston Road, London, NW1 2BA
