Actually, it was the artist Zalez himself who sent the video. He’s sent us videos before. This one is fittingly about the end of summer.

“Nowhere Land” is his short movie filmed during a road trip this summer on the French West coast.

Meaning of Light— New Painting in Artist Gabriella Cleuren’s Brave New Old World Series

logo-gaby spontaneous.jpg

The Light symbolic.

Light is a condition for seeing. It is so normal that we are rarely conscious of it. It makes everything visible, but remains unnoticed itself. Nonetheless, it is a graphic means for the artist, which she or he directs, or a given which she or he copiously directs her/himself in their work and in their observation. Because light is decisive for the atmosphere and thus it announces or transfers something to the viewer without him or her becoming aware of it. Light feels nice. It gives brightness, clarity and is the bearer of old archetypal meanings which any person of any culture whatsoever intuitively feels. Light stands for cleanliness, goodness, sincerity, truth, spirituality, simplicity and modesty, strength, wisdom and beauty; in short, for the divine. Thus it is positively set.

I’ve updated our list of  700+ Places to Sell Your Art-and I think the list must have over 800+ resources by now (but I don’t have time to count them today).

For American artists reading this blog, as well as artists in other countries, you probably have thought about expanding your sales to new markets such as Europe.

Our list of 700+ Place to Sell Your Art contains resources for artists to sell their work in many countries around the world. Today, I’m going to share one resource from the list of 700+ Places…

Art Up Deco is based in Paris, France, and their site is in both French and English. When you visit the site the template of the site design may not seem impressive but some of their artists have world-class reputations. Getting your paintings on this site will make them visible to a new market.

If you’re an artist, and interested in showing your work through Art Up Déco :

Send them either in printed form, or on CD-Rom (in jpg format), or by email :

1/ an overview of your experiences, training, artistic approach and your exhibitions.

2/ 15 photos representative of your current work, painting on canvas only, with details of format and the technique used for each piece.

3/ your details

Hello Marie,

I hope this finds you well and in good heart.

I’m a visual artist living in Ireland and I am writing to invite you
to take part in an on-line project I recently started called 100:WORDS.

It examines and celebrates loss, love, life and the passing of time and asks
people to describe the life they have experienced using 100 words or less.

You can see the project at www.lifein100wordsorless.wordpress.com or on facebook 100words
So far I’ve received submissions from the USA, Canada, Finland, Italy, France, Australia,Russia, Australia, Venuezela, Ireland, India, Lebanon and the U.K.

I’m hoping that there will be a publication and short film to accompany the project but
this will be determined by the amount and type of submissions received.

Please feel free to pass the details on to anyone you feel maybe interested in the project.

Take care and all the best,

Rowena.

Press Release

Animamus is pleased to announce its inaugural salon to be held on February 27,  2011 at 7:00 PM at:

Party Xpo

929 Broadway

Brooklyn, NY 11206

Animamus’ mission is to create a safe, supportive, and inspiring environment for artists of all mediums to debut and discuss their current work while encouraging audience participation.  Drawing its inspiration from the salon format first popularized in 17th Century France, where aristocrats invited thinkers, artists, and writers to their homes to discuss ideas, Bushwick Artist Salon seeks, in this digital age, to create a physical meeting space that will serve to foster the exchange of ideas, facilitate discourse, and create a sense of community. Salons will be held monthly.  Although each salon will be curated, anyone interested in participating in future salons can propose a presentation/ performance by emailing animamusartsalon@gmail.com.

At this date, the following are slated to present work with more presenters to be added:

Ventiko is a photographic artist whose work involves staged scenes created from found objects.  She will be creating a living installation utilizing empty milk cartons. http://www.ventiko.com

Sylva Dean and Me is a performance artist http://www.brianquinn.net/SYLVADEAN

Kristen Studioso is a video and stop motion artist. She will be screening new work. http://www.kristenstudioso.com

Coral Silverman is a visual artist and sometimes writer.   Her work reflects upon the ways in which new forms of technology are changing our relationship to nature, each other, and ourselves.  She will be presenting prose and paintings. www.coralsilverman.com

Everett Kane is a digital media teacher and artist who has been drawing 6 hours a day, seven days a week for six years.  He posts new drawings on Facebook daily.  He will be documenting the event through live drawing.

Fabio Corredor is a  performance artist/instigator.  He will be facilitating party games.

A canvas will be hung and the audience invited to freely mark and paint it between presentations.  This work will serve to document the creative energy created by the environment and by the various attendees.  No work shall be done on the painting outside of the Salon times.  The canvas will be a recurring fixture at each salon.

For images or additional information, please contact Coral Silverman at animamusartsalon@gmail.com.

Call For Artists PooL Art Fair Miami, 2010

Frere Independent is now reviewing Applications for PooL Art Fair Miami
Deadline: 20 October, 2010

Pool Art Fair
3, 4 & 5 December 2010
Carlton Hotel
1433 Collins Avenue
Miami Beach FL 33139

The simple, modest approach of the PooL Art Fair offers an exciting alternative to the “art fair” experience. Art dealers, gallery owners, curators, collectors and the general public have a unique opportunity to discover the work of unrepresented artists, to meet them and interact with them directly.

At PooL Miami, each artist, or group of artists, will use the hotel’s guest rooms as an exhibition space, creating an intimate setting. The show will be comprised of artists, artists’ collectives and curators. Hence, the fair will serve as an invaluable resource for the artistic community and the general public. Our goal with the PooL Art Fair is to provide the public with access to art, while encouraging them to support and meet these emerging artists. It is also a meeting ground for artists to take advantage of all networking opportunities that the fair provides.

Although there is a tradition in France of independent artist’s fairs, PooL has lead the path in this area of contemporary art exhibitions in the US. Inspired by Courbet’s famous ‘Salon des Independants,’ PooL extends the tradition here with success as the premiere fair in the US dedicated to artists that do not have representation in galleries.

PooL Miami will be held December 3, 4, and 5, 2010
Deadline for application to PooL Art Fair is October 20th 2010
To apply please download the application form here: http://openportfolioparis.wordpress.com/
Or contact us at info@poolartfair.com or Tel. +1 (212) 604 0519
Frere Independent is a not-for-profit art organization that provides new avenues of dissemination and widespread visibility to emerging and independent artists who do not currently have gallery representation.
