Art Chowder Magazine Print Edition + Digital! #Artists Submit!

Flootie online gallery owner Dean Cameron has purchased Art Chowder magazine and published the first edition since taking on the publication.

The May-June issue of Art Chowder is out now at www.artchowder.com and print copies can be purchased locally in all major bookstores including Barnes & Noble, Hastings, as well as many local retailers. The Art Chowder website is up and running and people can subscribe to receive print copies of the magazine in the mail or download a PDF version to their Nook or Kindles. Cover price is $5.95 and digital is $1.99. People can also read for free on the Art Chowder website here.

Artists Submit to Art Chowder

Art Chowder publishes 6 issues of the magazine per year with each issue featuring at least one national and one international artist per release.

The Art Chowder website has all the tools from advertising rates and submission details for artists.

Art Chowder has several expert columnists that will feature articles every issue as well. The “Chowder” in the name implies they will have a savory mix of a wide spectrum of the “Arts” in each issue begging the reader to ask “What’s next”?

J. P. Meyer’s INITIATE Exhibition + Feature Article

The Race, J. P. Meyer

The Race, J. P. Meyer

South African artist JP Meyer’s current INITIATE exhibition opened earlier this month, and he told me something about his work in an interview which I published in a feature article in Xposy magazine here.

After years of exploring patterns and abstraction, Meyer recently changed direction in pursuit of small monotone and almost photorealistic figure studies. Works in the INITIATE exhibition have minimal backgrounds that dissolve blurred edges of forms and paint layers while maintaining the photographic character of the figures — making them recognizable but with hard to distinguish features– an approach that compliments Meyer’s examination of loss of individuality.

Logo_bleu_FINAL_SmallLogo

Art Exhibeo online art magazine  has a current call for artists to submit art based on the human figure. Submit your 2D paintings, drawings, pastels, photography, sculpture, and mixed medium artwork that emphasizes humans as an integral part of the composition. They’ve EXTENDED Deadline to January 31st 2016. There is an online submissions form and a fee to submit–details here.

Only a very small percentage of the art magazines on our e-list require fees to submit. But we thought this online magazine would be of interest to some of our artist-readers so we’ve added it to our e-list of Art Magazines, art blogs, art publication resources available here.

Story and Alt Space: 2 That Combine Art Magazine + Art Gallery + Art Shop

Both Story and Alt Space present interesting concepts based on the combination of magazine, shop and art gallery–perhaps each coming from a different direct.

While Story changes their retail space every 4-6 weeks like an art gallery to focus on a new theme, Alt Space began as a magazine that expanded into a gallery and shop in Brooklyn. These may seem like subtle differences, yet I think visual artists might examine both to stimulate their thinking for new ways to present their work.

Many artists set up a website that acts as an archive for images of their work. Perhaps it’s time to dust things off and rethink such a presentation, making it more dynamic. Regular changes will result in news for their blog, and social media activity, creating plenty to Tweet about and share on other platforms and bringing more visitors to the artist’s website.

Screenshot 2016-01-06 at 10.13.12 PM

They began as a magazine called Alt Citizen. ALT CITIZEN welcomes submissions of any and all content that expands the imagination and creative energy. They’re a community of writers, photographers, thinkers. Please send all music, musings, photos, videos, collages, art and any other thing that you would like considered –Submission details here.

Alt Citizen recently opened a gallery and shop in Brooklyn called Alt Space.  They also have a new online store altspaceshop.com! Featuring some of their favorite artists and designers.

Alt Space has been labeled Revivers of DIY, “where art and fashion seamlessly collide” by Bullett Magazine. They host monthly exhibitions and events to a growing collective of local creatives and consumers alike. Curators include Alt Citizen Editor-in-Chief Nasa Hadizadeh, Style artist Phil Gomez, and Artist Grace Miceli.

Artwork from current and past exhibitions, fashion, and accessories are personally selected by AltSpace curators for the shops. Most items are artist made, limited, and/or exclusive to Alt Space. Stay updated on Alt Space by following on Twitter: @altspacebrooklyn.

Since Artist Marketing Resources became a part of what’s happening online, beginning in 2008, we’ve noticed more multi-purpose organizations springing up–such as Tumuult, based in Berlin, Germany–which has both online and live art projects. Tumuult is scheduled to open in November of this year as an interdisciplinary art gallery focusing on up-and-coming artists and environmental issues,  working with both artists and scientists. Tumuult will be engaging with their public via pop-up installations and lectures.  Plus, they are a creative agency involved in Interior Design and furniture design, and publishes limited edition prints, an art magazine, and art books in English, French, and German.

Submit to the first issue of their magazine here. Find out more about their Pop-up projects and Tumuult publishing here.

These are all areas of interest to us–art magazines, limited edition artist prints, art exhibition venues, and Interior Design art sales– since we promote and submit artists’ work to art magazines and provide publication resources to artists in our e-list here, and have gathered together an extensive list of art print resources for artists here, provide an e-list of over five-thousand art galleries here, and a resources e-list of art consultants which includes select Interior Designers here, as well as Art Sales venues here, and Art Licensing resources here and photography resources here.

Please get in touch for unique solutions for your projects.

This Simple, Elegant Approach By A Photographer in Finland

We received this simple, elegant approach from photographer Anders Lönnfeldt–
“I hope you are having a great summer.
I want to share one of my latest Instagram photos with you. I mainly share my work on Instagram at the moment, since it works best for me. Feel free to follow me on Instagram: https://instagram.com/anderslonnfeldt/
Where do you share you work at the moment? Any great platforms that I maybe don’t know about?
Have a great summer:) Anders Lönnfeldt  http://www.anderslonnfeldt.com/ “
We really loved this, and the photo he sent (below). We replied to his question by letting him about Xposy Multimedia Magazine. Anders took a look at the feature articles on Xposy, many of contemporary musicians and photographers.  As it turns out, Anders has photographed many international recording artists! So we featured his work in an article on Xposy here.

Artists Success Stories: 2 featured in art magazine

Screen Shot 2015-01-21 at 9.05.43 PM

In September 2014 we featured the ARTiculAction publication project Call for Artists– here on our site.

Two artists who submitted to the call we shared– Alan Singer and Metrov– are both featured in the December 2014 Issue out now.

We are always glad to hear from artists on how such opportunities worked for them, such as this note–

Hello Marie,

I just wanted to thank you for sending the daily art marketing news.  Last October I shared the opportunity of having artwork published in ARTiculAction
with my class, and this month they published my interview.  This is a great example of going the extra distance to find a larger audience.  Your help in this new media mix is essential!
