Yesterday, we posted here on how New York art galleries have begun to accept artist submissions on an ongoing basis.
As we double checking and triple checking every link in each gallery listing in our International Art Gallery Directory of over five thousand galleries–available here and here–we’re discovering more and more updated art gallery submission guidelines adopting this “more fluid” artist submission policy.
Here is another–
Art in General in New York City, writes– “Responding to the current state of artistic and curatorial practice, Art in General’s Open Call has shifted from its once-a-year online deadline to a more fluid model of receiving and reviewing artists’ work. Artists are encouraged to submit project proposals at any point throughout the year.” Proposals are accepted via email –read the full submission details here.

There are many art galleries reviewing artist portfolios. They are highlighted in yellow on our 361 page e-list. Get the gallery e-list here.
During seven months of the year, a top gallery in New York City schedules weekly appointments with artists to meet with them in person. The gallery has a set number of time slots per week that are allotted to artists who call to reserve a space. The gallerist meets with each artist one-on-one to review the artist’s printed portfolios or images on disc on computer screen.
I’m not going to state the name of the gallery in this article. I don’t want to contribute to an overload of calls. I love their policy of meeting with artists each week–it’s considerate of artists and an excellent way to get to know new artists and review their submissions.
Find out the name of the gallery here.
Every Saturday, New York City art gallery, Garvey Simon Art Access Inc posts a selection of original artwork submitted by up-and-coming artists to their Tumblr blog.
This is an excellent way for up-and-coming artists to get images of their art viewed by gallery curators. Saturday Selections Submissions may be made here.
You won’t be able to upload your jpegs but will need an image URL. You can find an image URL on images of your art on your own blog or website. Copy and paste the link into the Tumblr form.
How to submit work:
– Please submit your work as a photo or video post, and if there is a link to your personal blog, please include that as well. Read the full guidelines on the gallery Tumblr blog.
Artists will find a further list of Tumblr blogs to submit to here.
