Open Call for #Artist Entries for Exhibition: Flat Rate Box

This is an opportunity that I discovered while updating our International Art Gallery Directory — now over 800 pages of art galleries and links to their website, address and contact information, and their submission guidelines–all of which require continual ongoing attention, review, and updating as needed.

The opportunity I found is “Flat Rate Box”–

“Flat Rate Box” is an open call to artists for artwork to be exhibited at the Modified Arts contemporary art gallery in Dec. 2017.

In this exhibition, artists working in all mediums are asked to submit work that fits into a USPS Flat Rate Box– regardless of size upon opening. Artists are encouraged to explore the possibilities of art works that transcend shipping size restrictions.

Read the full submission guidelines here.  This is a No entry fee opportunity.

Open Call for Exhibition Proposals: Science Gallery, A Place Where Science and Art Collide

blgosynapse

Since opening in 2008, Science Gallery has had over one million visitors. Today, Science Gallery is seeking proposals for its upcoming exhibition LIFELOGGING LAB, which will open in February 2015.

Curators for this exhibition are seeking up to 14 works. Proposals will be funded up to a maximum budget of €2600. Two outstanding original works may be commissioned with a higher budget of up to €7500.

From critical to creative, LIFELOGGING LAB will ask artists, designers and philosophers ‘where do we go from here’ and question whether we can record and analyse happiness, beauty and aesthetics the same way we record footsteps and heartbeats. This exhibition will explore novel methods for capturing data, for visualizing, and for analysing the insights that new data affords us about ourselves and society.

Submissions Deadline: Thursday, October 23, 2014 – 12:00

Submission Guidelines

Decide if you’re going to do a video based or text-based proposal submission.

For a video based proposal submit an informal two-minute (max) video in which you:

  • explain how the visitor will experience your piece in the gallery
  • tell us a bit about yourself
  • outline a brief budget breakdown

Record your video with your phone, webcam and upload it to your own YouTube or Vimeo account or directly from the gallery submission page, or directly to the gallery submission page in MP4 format.

For text based submissions, submit up to a 300 word proposal in which summarize the same information: what the visitor will see/hear/experience, a bit about yourself, and a budget breakdown.

For each type of submission, you can also include images to illustrate your project.

You’ll need to either create an account on opencall.sciencegallery.com or you can log in using your existing Facebook or Google accounts.

Find full submission details on the Science Gallery website here.

DLECTRICITY Open Call 2014

blogdlectricity-apply-here-image-300x112

According to recent news media, Detroit, Michigan may be a dying city ready to shut down and auction off their museum art collections–yet in 2014 artists are invited to submit to this open call

DLECTRICITY is back and ready to see more of your work! For two electrifying nights in 2012, DLECTRICITY brought thousands of people into Midtown Detroit to experience 35 projects by local, national and international artists. 25 of those projects were selected from an open call. This fall, DLECTRICITY will again transform Midtown Detroit with site-specific installations of light, video, performance, interactive engineering and nonconformist architecture. From lasers to dance, robots to 3D mapping, they want to show what you create and challenge you to animate historic buildings, turn streets into oceans – the city landscape is your canvas.

DLECTRICITY is looking for projects that will activate the outdoor, nighttime landscape of Midtown Detroit’s Woodward Corridor including:

+ Light art
+ Video art
+ 3D video mapping projects
+ Multimedia installations
+ Projects that use technology for interactivity and community engagement
+ Works that use mobile platforms (smartphones, tablets)
+ Performance (art, dance, theater, music)
+ Talks and workshops
+ Kid-friendly and/or educational
+ The unexpected

Accepted proposals will be funded up to $2,500. Artists will also receive a $1,000 honorarium.

A full set of DLECTRICITY guidelines can be found here: DLECTRICITY Open Call Guidelines 2014.

Log into the SlideRoom application system. DLECTRICITY open call applications are only available online at https://midtowndetroitinc.slideroom.com.
