Amazon Identifies Art With High Buyer Interest (Part 2)

Artist Chris Osborne is the top seller in our Amazon store. We’ve sold many of her limited edition posters and Giclee canvas art prints to Amazon shoppers! Yet, Amazon has also identified Chris Osborne art items listed in our store that have lower sales but hold high buyer interest, suggesting that we offer a promotional discount. Earlier this month we shared part one of the list of print art in our Amazon store that has been identified by Amazon as has having high buyer interest–read the article here. Today, in Part 2, we are sharing Chris Osborne Giclee canvas print art, prints on paper, and limited edition poster art in our Amazon store that we’ve offering at a discount for a limited time. Recently, Amazon USA sellers were offered options to expand their store listings to Amazon store sites in Europe, Japan and all over the world.

Shortly after apply this option to my Amazon store, a buyer in Europe ordered Chris Osborne’s limited edition Robert Johnson & the Blue Terraplane poster, available on Amazon here. The poster buyer paid the extra shipping from the USA to Europe.

This Saturday, we begin our weekly series of artist features. An international line-up of artists that we have scheduled so far– Clare Haxby, Milan Rubio, Lela Tabliashvili, Esther Lau– are members of our Artist Marketing Resources group on LinkedIn and our Flickr group. All artist members are invited to send us their art images for this series.

We also continue to invite artists to add their art to our Facebook page, Fine Art USA.

Our group Pinterest board, Art Direct From Artists continues to fill with images of artworks by over 50 artists– each labeled with  retail price so that interested buyers may purchase these artworks directly from each artist.

Slanted magazine is a major design, illustration, and photography magazine based in Germany. Their site is in English and German and has a translation option, as well, for translating the site into other languages. If you have a book project of your own to promote, or other design related artwork, you can show your projects to Slanted magazine readers with a free portfolio account that you will receive when you buy Slanted magazine issues in their shop. On the Slanted magazine website, you will see in the upper menu *Portfolios* which has a drop-down menu list that includes Design Portfolios, Illustration Portfolios, Graphics, Interactive, and Typography. If your artwork fits any of those categories, a portfolio of your work included their could bring you visibility.

The current Slanted magazine project is a special poster issue and exhibition series–

CUBAN POSTER ART – 

The New Generation

Special Edition – SLANTED MAGAZINE #21 will be released in spring 2013. This special issue will be released as 320 page volume of Cuban poster art by the most brilliant artists working today including exhibitions complementing and illustrating the publication internationally.

GOAL: PUBLICATION AND EXPOSITION

This special issue of Slanted, CUBAN POSTER ART – The New Generation, will be released in spring 2013, attracting attention to an international level. This project has the goal to raise € 10,000 (≈ $ 13,000) additionally to our usual budget. We want to cover expenses we usually don’t have:

  1. For an exhibitions with original silkscreened posters, touring from city to city. Shipping, organization and insurances for first shows in Berlin, Leipzig and Paris will cost € 4,000 (≈ $ 5,200)
  2. Translations: The magazine will be bilingual (Spanish/English). With a volume of 320 pages we will have to translate all interviews and texts either to English or Spanish. This needs to be done professionally and will be € 4,500 (≈ $ 5,800)
  3. Additional print of 1,000 copies that will be shipped to Cuba. Whoever has been in Cuba knows how hungry Cubans are for good printed matter. Extra printing: € 1,500 (≈ $ 1,950)

This project funded will enable us to share what we see as being an extraordinary inside view into Cuban design, reflecting the reality of life in Cuba and the beauty that lies within its complexity.

Our Amazon Store 1st Anniversary

The Transmedia Artist Amazon Pro Store opened last year in July. The first weeks were all about completing several pages of online forms for each product listing added, and researching keyword search terms to apply to each artwork listing. There have been sales each month since the store opened. The top-selling store artists are Chris Osborne, Marta Lowndes and Terry Luc. So far we’ve sold two of Marta’s paintings on canvas, and have two more paintings by Marta still available. You can view the listings for the paintings here and here.

We continue to have repeat sales of the limited edition poster art of Chris Osborne and Giclee print art of Terry Luc. “Buddy Bolden’s Dream”

Buddy Bolden (1877-1931), the first Jazz horn player, popular from 1897 to 1907 in New Orleans, aka  “King” Bolden  never recorded his music (no Jazz cylinder has been found). The 1905 Cadillac featured in this painting, is a Model F 5-passenger touring car.  The young Louis Armstrong gazes at the cornet Buddy holds in his hand.  Posters advertising the King Bolden Band appear on the delivery wagon in the background.

We’re always happy when an artist makes a sale. Chris Osborne made this amazing and fun original painting  of James Dean, then had a limited edition of 800 posters made from the painting. The posters are printed on a heavy high quality paper. Artist Chris Osborne says that she painted a scene from the movie Rebel Without a Cause in the reflections on the side of the car.
