UncommonGoods has a new series of 2014 Art Contests. For this year’s series of art design challenges, they’re focusing on specific calls for art. Currently, they’re hosting a Mixed Art Design Challenge, an opportunity for artists to submit different mediums of work from digital mixed media to unexpected use of material. They’re looking for different texture or medium combinations such as paint, ink, oil, paper, photography, wood, metallic, and lace. The Mixed Media Art Contest will be judged by Yellow Heart Art Graphic Artist, Leonora Jennifer, Writer of The Jealous Curator, Danielle Krysa, Cakies Blog Editor and Author of Let’s Sew Together, Rubyellen Bratcher, and UncommonGoods Home Décor Buyer, Alexis Campagna. The winner will receive $1000 and 5% royalties on each print that is sold.

Uncommon Goods loved hosting their past Art Contests so much that they decided to keep them going all year round! Every month is a new chance to submit your latest masterpiece and get it in front of their buyers. Winners will see their work printed, framed and sold on UncommonGoods.com.

DEADLINE: This is an ongoing competition. Every month new semifinalists will be chosen from the previous month’s submissions.

GRAND PRIZE: $500 + 5% royalties on a limited edition of 100 prints.

RUNNERS UP:
All runners-up will receive a critique of their work from the guest judges, and UncommonGoods’ marketing team will provide tips for marketing and growing their businesses. Additionally, UncommonGoods’ buyers will review each entrant’s full portfolio and may consider adding the work submitted to the UncommonGoods website in the future.

WHAT CAN I SUBMIT?
2D digital captures of your original watercolors, acrylics, pastels, colored pencils, collages, digital art, etc. We can’t accept photography, 3D work, textures, letterpress or other work that relies on hand printing.

WHAT DOES IT TAKE TO BE AN UNCOMMON ARTIST?
Your design and your personal story should be anything but ordinary. Your design should be expressive, unique and tell a story. Be sure to share your design process and background on the submission form.
