USA, Canada, Asia: Art Dealer Renowned For Print Editions

Patrick Painter is an American art dealer who in 1991 began Patrick Painter Editions in Vancouver, Canada and Hong Kong. He is also the owner of Patrick Painter Inc., which he opened in 1997, that includes two art galleries in Santa Monica, California.

Last month, Patrick Painter launched his Facebook fan page as a Public Personality–find it here.

Early in his career, Patrick Painter was mentored by famed art dealer Leo Castelli and curator Walter Hopps.  According to Wikipedia,…” Patrick Painter Editions was established in a depressed market, [yet] he managed to build his business upon the success he had turning editions. Fine art prints, or multiple editions, were looked down upon at the time by many critics and collectors; Painter created a unique approach to the market. In 1996, 20 galleries worldwide had shows of exclusively Patrick Painter Editions.

Recent Feedback from Artists About Artist Marketing Resources

 FEEDBACK FROM ARTISTS:

It’s great getting unsolicited feedback about our resources and services, such as in a tweet that we received from artist Joyce Dade regarding the $39.95 price of our International Art Galleries Directory. Joyce tweeted to us @TransArtGuide “A very decent price for such an art directory.  Paid $100 years ago for Italian version. I forget the name of publisher.”

Artist Alexis Avlamis, an artist curated into the Drawing Center New York City and featured on the Art21 interview blog wrote to us, in part:

“About two months ago, I stumbled upon your websıte and bought both the Transmedıa Artıst Guıde to Makıng Artıst Submıssıons and the Internatıonal Art Gallery Dırectory Share Lıst. I found them very professıonal, well wrıtten, ınformatıve and eye openıng, especıally when ıt comes to untanglıng the mysterıes and meshes of the art world.”

This week an artist in Europe wrote in an email:

“Hi Marie, I just wanted to say thanks for doing a good job…” an except from an email we received after our submission got this artist a much-needed magazine feature, a requirement to obtain an artist via to the USA. We are also assisting this artist in completing the USA Artist Visa application.

Plus, last week we received a thank-you gift of an original art piece in the mail from an artist we work with!

Artist Marketing Resources would like to thank all the artists who sent such positive feedback. We’d like to make this a regular monthly feature on our blog. So if you talk about us online, please let us know, and you could get mentioned along with an image and link to your site.

Bridgeman Art Library International Soon to Launch Online Platform for Artists Interested in Licensing Images

Bridgeman Art Library International, headquartered in New York, New York, United States and
London
,
United Kingdom, partners with a carefully selected portfolio of collections and artists. Every month a new collection or artist is profiled on their website in various categories such as in their contemporary artists category.

This Spring 2014, they will launch their new online platform for emerging artists, illustrators, and designers with direct access to more than 30,000 clients and a community of creatives interested in image licensing.

The news of this new online platform was announced in Art Buyer magazine with no date given for the launch and no further details.

If you would like to add art work to Bridgeman Art Library, there is a Register Interest link on each page of their website as well as on their Homepage. Or click *Studio* in the top menu bar. To pre-register you will need to upload a selection of low-res images. The Bridgeman Studio team will review the images you submit, as well as review your online presence (ie. websites, online galleries) for further evidence of your work.

Bridgeman Studio exists on an annual subscription basis. The cost for an artist to join is GBP £100 (ex. VAT) / €125 (ex. VAT) / US$150. For countries outside the Euro zone or the United States of America artists will be billed in GBP.

What does the Bridgeman team look for in your work?

The Bridgeman Studio team evaluates art work from a commercial licensing perspective, aimed squarely at curating the best creative content for image licensing. If invited to join, you will be asked to complete your registration, following which your images will be featured on the site.

Artists are also invited to join their Print-on-demand opportunities to earn income via the Bridgeman Art.com store.

As outlined above, artists will note that in addition to making submissions of their work, that it is important that artists maintain an online presence.  In that regard, Artist Marketing Resources democratically offers any artist an opportunity for a feature article that will increase online visibility for the artist, remain up permanently, and become part of Google search engine results–for details click here.

Artists, for hundreds more resource links to art licensing opportunities, Artist Marketing Resources provides a PDF of clickable links to companies licensing art from artists. This PDF also includes artist agents and artist representatives internationally–gain access to the PDF here.

According to this BBC article, more art is sold online than in galleries. This is the first I’ve read of this. Over the past few years there has been an ongoing debate, and even a snobbery perhaps against online galleries. It seems the tides have turned!

Read this article, including a quote regarding Saatchi online gallery sales vs physical gallery sales—http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-23054641

Artist Opportunity: Fluctuations Print Exchange, Deadline July 19th

Submissions are now open for the first Recession Art Print Exchange, Fluctuations—the theme of the print exchange will be the very idea of exchanging; fluctuations between giving and receiving.

19 artists will be selected to participate in creating original prints in an edition size of 21. Each participant will receive their own complete portfolio of this exchange, and the additional prints will be on view during a reception that will be held on September 27th 2013.

In each artist’s submission, submit a clear proposal of the print including images (sketches, collages, photos) of the proposed work or images of previous work if necessary.

All prints must conform to the dimensions of 11″ x 14″ (approximately 1/4 of a standard sheet of industry printmaking paper).

All printmaking processes will be considered for this print exchange, though digital prints must also contain one or more hand-pulled elements in the final artwork. We encourage innovative, mixed media approaches to printmaking.

The print exchange is open to artists living within the United States and overseas. Portfolios can be sent by mail to each recipient or can be picked up at our location in Brooklyn. Each artist is responsible for the cost of shipping.

Deadline for submission : July 19th, 11:59 pm

Prints must be delivered to 47 Bergen St, Brooklyn NY by September 20th, 7:00 pm

Receive a Numbered Print When You Donate $10 to Help Rebuild Moore, Oklahoma

blogRebuildMoore3

Hi Marie,

The recent devastation in Moore, Oklahoma is almost unimaginable to those of us not living in the wake of the tornado. However the effects on the people of Moore is all too real, and we have the power to help.

Neenah Paper wants to give people an opportunity to contribute to the rebuilding of Moore through its Beauty of Letterpress (#beautyofletterpress) project. Neenah commissioned the Oklahoma-based design firm Ghost to create a Beauty of Letterpress poster to help support the efforts. The edition was designed in days and just came off the press Friday.

People donate $10 and receive a numbered print. 100% of the proceeds will be donated to Architecture for Humanity’s initiative to rebuild Moore, #RebuildMoore. Their team is already on the ground there in their assessment phase.

The prints will be available at The Beauty of Letterpress  starting today, June 18th.

We want to sell out this edition and believe that your readers will embrace the spirit of this project.

Best,
Kim Rogala
